AGM guest speaker Dave Minions spoke from his heart about what a difference we have made in his life and his family. Dave is the father of a young woman who came before a Youth Justice Committee several years ago. That’s how he first heard of us. Last year his company, Cenovus, offered him an opportunity to be a Coach for a young person through our In the Lead program. Dave spoke passionately about how much he’s learned through both of these opportunities.
There were several firsts at the 2012 AGM, held on May 24th at Cardel Theatre. We were thrilled to be recognizing 15-year volunteers for the first time. These five volunteers have served with us since the inception of Youth Justice Committees in Calgary. We also introduced the new Sandy Vander Ziel Heart of Change award in honor of our out-going Board President. And this is the first year we reported on more than one program…our long-standing Youth Justice Committee program is joined by In the Lead – both meeting our mandate of connecting youth with community and community with youth.
