In the Lead Next Gen

In the Lead Next Gen is a strengths-based leadership development program for young adults who are eager to continue developing their leadership skills and stay connected to CYJS. This program builds on the existing In the Lead program while introducing new topics and key elements that contribute to effective leadership. 

Program Information:

1. Who can participate in ITL Next Gen?
  • Young adults between the ages of 18 - 24 who have previously completed our In the Lead program.
2. Young adults who participate in ITL Next Gen will:
  • Uncover and maximize their unique strengths
  • Deepen their self-awareness and understanding of self
  • Learn to lead authentically and confidently in different contexts
  • Become a brand ambassador for CYJS
  • Receive a certificate of completion for an advanced leadership program
3. How will participants further develop their leadership skills and abilities?
  • By completing five module topics
    • My Best Self
    • Authentic Leadership and Personal Expression
    • Emotionally Intelligent Leadership
    • Communicating Like the Leader You Are
    • Exploring Possibility
  • Within each module, participants will:
    • Learn key concepts relevant to the topic
    • Have opportunities to apply the concepts in their life
    • Develop an understanding as to how the key concepts relate to leadership
    • Have the opportunity to provide feedback that will contribute to the growth and development of ITL Next Gen
4. Module Descriptions:

1) My Best Self

In this module, participants will reflect on their strengths, best qualities, and experiences, to understand what makes them unique. Having a solid sense of self is foundational in leadership, helping people lead authentically and confidently. Using reflection and feedback from others, participants will gain greater insight into who they are when they are at their best. 

2) Authentic Leadership and Personal Expression

Every great leader has spent time thinking about and building a personal brand they are proud of. This module will guide participants in developing and defining their own values-based brand as a leader. They will learn how to align their actions and values in different contexts, so they can show up as they leader they are. 

3) Emotionally Intelligent Leadership

Understanding and managing emotions, both your own and those of others, is crucial for effective leadership. In this module, participants will develop their own social emotional intelligence so they can build strong relationships and lead with empathy.

4) Communicating Like the Leader You Are

Effective communication is key to successful leadership. It's more than just the words we say and hear. Participants will build on their communication skills, such as public speaking, active listening, nonverbal communication, and feedback. They will also learn strategies to manage conflict effectively. 

5) Exploring Possibility

As participants prepare for the next phase of their growth journey, this module will help them explore career paths that align with their strengths, values, and passions. 

5. Class Information

Classes run once a week and are 90 minutes long.

Our Fall 2024 intake is running from October 24 (2024) - April 3 (2025).
